Their story

Kronehit is Austria’s largest commercial radio station, broadcasting its flagship “kronehit” program nationwide via an extensive FM network. In addition to this, the company also operates four DAB+ services, including two national and two local channels. Serving such a broad and diverse audience means that transmission quality is absolutely critical, particularly in a country where transmitter sites are spread across mountainous regions and challenging terrain.
To guarantee that every listener receives the best possible audio quality, Kronehit has long relied on professional test and measurement tools. Their relationship with Audemat spans decades, and as their network evolved, so did the need for updated technology—especially following the launch of their additional DAB+ programs.
With 174 FM transmitter sites across Austria and multiple digital channels to maintain, the engineering team required flexible, precise, and modern tools to support daily operations and regulatory compliance.
Kronehit’s CTO, Martin Holovlasky, explained that although they already had measurement systems in place, demand had grown significantly. The team needed to regularly verify DAB+ performance while continuing to service their widely distributed FM transmitter network. As he put it, in broadcast engineering, you can never have too much measurement equipment. This reality, combined with their long-standing trust in Audemat technology, made the decision to upgrade to the latest generation of the MC family a natural progression.
Deploying the Audemat MC6
Today, the Audemat MC6 is used daily across Kronehit’s engineering operations. Much of the time, it is installed in static setups to continuously monitor and verify priority broadcast sites. However, thanks to its smaller and more mobile form factor compared to previous generations, the team is also planning to use it increasingly for field-based activities such as regular drive testing.
The FM analyzer remains the most frequently used feature, with the DAB analyzer providing critical insight whenever required. What stands out most to the engineering team is not only the technical capability of the device but also its accessibility. The MC6 is designed so that engineers with different levels of RF experience can still carry out accurate, trustworthy measurements, while more advanced specialists are able to explore deeper performance data to fine-tune the signal where necessary.

Tangible Impact on Operations
Since integrating the MC6, Kronehit has significantly increased the speed and flexibility of its fieldwork. Measurements can now be carried out faster and more efficiently, allowing engineers to respond more quickly to operational needs. Just as importantly, the team has full confidence that each transmission site is performing at its best and fully compliant with technical regulations.
Holovlasky highlights two aspects in particular that differentiate the MC6 from other solutions on the market:
- Its exceptional usability across varying technical skill levels
- The high quality and reliability of the measurement data
Together, these qualities help ensure that Kronehit’s services consistently meet the highest technical standards.
A Tool Worth Recommending
When asked whether he would recommend the Audemat MC6 to other broadcasters, Holovlasky’s response was clear and positive. He emphasized that the platform uniquely combines ease of use with precise and reliable measurement performance, making it an invaluable asset for modern broadcast operations.

A Continuing Partnership in Broadcast Innovation
For Kronehit, the Audemat MC6 is more than just a piece of test equipment. It is a strategic tool that supports their mission to deliver high-quality radio experiences to audiences across Austria, regardless of geography or platform.
Backed by a trusted partnership with WorldCast Systems, the broadcaster continues to innovate and strengthen its network performance—ensuring that every listener receives the clearest possible signal, wherever they are.
